SZA Opens Up About Social Media's Impact on Mental Health

The singer revealed inner turmoil caused by social media pressures and the constant struggle between experiencing life and capturing it online.

SZA is reflecting on how social media affects her mental and emotional states.

On Friday (November 24), the famed singer took to Twitter to be honest about her relationship with the various platforms.

“No one teaches you how to enjoy ur life .. they teach you how to work for it . Desire it . Protect it .fight tooth n nail for it . Pray for it . imagine it .manifest it .. how do [you] process all the things you’ve prayed for,” she wrote in a series of tweets.

In another tweet, the TDE artist noted that social media frequently makes her feel either anxious or have a bout of fear of missing out on something. “I get anxious posting [about] my life then get fomo watching other [people] post then experience way more life so there’s so much more to post and get anxious [about] the volume of material then fomo again watching awesome posts then back to experiencing more magical life material I can’t post," she continued.

“But I swear there’s life happening,” SZA added in an additional tweet.

To end her thoughts, the 34-year-old posted a new photo and the caption: “alright y’all be safe now love you bye 💗🫶🏾 ps this will make sense soon.” 

SZA is preparing to release Lana, the deluxe version of her album SOS. Speaking with , she says the project will feature ten new songs, including an unreleased track titled “DTM.”
