Madame C.J. Walker is born on a plantation near Delta, Louisiana.

Madame C. J. Walker, whose birth name was Sarah Breedlove, was born on a plantation in Delta, Louisiana. After changing her name to “Madame” C. J. Walker, she founded her own business selling Black hair care and cosmetics. She would become America’s first African-American millionaire.
