The Weeknd Abruptly Cancels Concert At Sold-Out SoFi Stadium After Losing His Voice
The Weeknd disappointed fans at a sold-out SoFi Stadium concert Saturday night (Sept. 3) when he suddenly canceled the show shortly after it began.
In the middle of his third song, the Canadian musician walked off stage, The Los Angeles Times reports. He later walked back onstage and explained to the crowd that he lost his voice and apologized for having to cancel.
“I’m going to make sure everyone is good. You’ll get your money back. But I’ll do a show real soon for you guys,” The Weeknd stated. “I can’t give you what I want to give you.”
A video clip of the performer’s comments at the concert is below.
After personally apologizing to concertgoers at the 70,000-seat arena in Inglewood, Calif., the singer, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, released a statement on social media.
“My voice went out during the first song and I’m devastated. Felt it go and my heart dropped. My deepest apologies to my fans here. I promise I’ll make it up to you with a new date,” he tweeted.
The severity of the performer’s vocal problem wasn’t immediately known, and it was unclear how it would impact the tour dates, the Times reported.
