With over two decades of hit-making under their belts, Dru Hill has established themselves as living legends who have left a significant and influential mark on the music we know and love (and play on repeat) today.
That being said, the celebrated group is far from slowing down, with 2016 not only marking a triumphant and eager return to touring, but also to the studio. In celebration of reuniting at the 2016 Soul Train Awards for a special performance, Dru Hill releases their first single in six years, as a special thank you to their loyal fans who have been ride or die for them from the very jump.
Throughout the past twenty years, whether their music leans towards soul, gospel or R&B, the group has made expressing messages of gratitude and love in style again. After all we've been through this year as a country and as individuals, it is time for us to focus on healing, self-love and taking action, something that the iconic group touches on throughout their new single "Change."
"As a group that has been in the industry for 20 years, we feel so lucky and grateful to have fans that still support us in everything that we do," Dru Hill shared exclusively with BET. Now, we feel like it's time to give back in a way that expresses that gratitude. This single is just the beginning."
The beautifully harmonious track opens with an audio snippet reporting on the tragic death of Freddie Gray, with the group paying an homage to his life, while also addressing the undeniable fact there needs to be "Change." They later tie in naming other victims of police brutality, weaving together an incredible message about why we need to come together to change the world and prevent future acts of senseless violence.
