Pooch Hall: Game Plans
As The Game winds down its fourth season and first on BET, Pooch Hall couldn’t be happier with the show and his career. “I’m happy to be part of a show that can give people entertainment they can be proud of,” he says. “Going to BET from the CW, it was all new. The writers and cast were in place and we picked up where we left off but we had to get our legs. We only shot 13 episodes and I hope we’ll do more in Season 5,” he says, optimistic that the show will get picked up. “We have to let people know that BET is doing original programs and that they’re hot! It takes a lot of work and patience and manpower and I think BET definitely stepped up to bat as a network that can be looked at as serious and official and up there with the big ones.”
Game viewers can expect to see some promotions for Jumping the Broom, the upcoming movie in which Hall plays the best man to Laz Alonso’s groom-to-be. “It’s about families coming together from two different worlds. It’s a great, fun family movie and I’m happy to be a part of it,” he says. “There are a lot of issues that all people can relate to and learn from that doesn’t have a color. The bottom line is it’s about unity and family and when you have two people that love each other it doesn’t matter.”
Meanwhile, he’s thrilled for his co-star Tia Mowry, whose pregnancy he figured out before she officially announced it. “All of a sudden, Tia’s going through moods on the set and I’m like, ‘Is she pregnant?’’ He noticed a little belly bump, “So I asked her and she said ‘Shhh!’ She hadn’t told anyone yet. But being a dad myself,” laughs the father of three, “I knew something was going on.”
