New York's two biggest hip-hop radio stations, Hot 97 and Power 105, are in the midst of a war of words stemming from the recent arrest of Hot 97’s DJ Mister Cee.
Last night fellow Hot DJ Funkmaster Flex took to the airwaves to defend Cee against comments made on rival radio station Power 105.1. Incensed by the needling reports of Mister Cee’s arrest during The Breakfast Club—a morning talk show hosted by Charlamagne The God, DJ Envy and Angela Yee—Funkmaster used his prime-time show to fire warning shots at his rivals and anyone who would insult his longtime friend and colleague.
"Greasy talk, huh? Let me explain something to you right now," Flex said of Power 105.1. "I know everything that moves in that building. You wanna throw a stone this morning?  I know what people like and what people don't like in that building."

It was unclear if he was referring to a person's sexuality, but his threats implied outing someone he believes to be in the closet. Flex insisted his intended audience would know what he meant.
Not one to take a punch lying down, Charlamagne unleashed a full-throated retaliation against Flex on today's Breakfast Club, anointing him "Donkey of the Day" while continuing to crack jokes regarding Mister Cee's high-profile fall from grace.
"Why you mad at us? I'm confused here...” said Charlamagne. "Don't get mad at us, get mad at him! You ought to step to him like 'Man, I don't care if you like men, but move better. Don't be messin' with prostitutes, get you a boyfriend. You're out here making yourself and the brand look crazy."

The outspoken radio personality even dared Flex to proceed with his threats, claiming to have incriminating pictures that would harm Flex’s marriage.
"Look man we're ready for war. I'm not an artist. I don't have to get no records played. Me and you don't ever have to associate or do no business together," Charlamagne said. "I want the war. These pictures we got will absolutely break up a happy home. We can leave it where it's at or we can go. But trust me, you don't wanna go where these pictures are gonna take it."
Meanwhile, on Cee's radio show this afternoon, he shifted the tone from indignation to consciousness, playing a string of Common's classics like "Testify" and "The Light." Later, he played "Can't Nobody Hold Me Down" by Puff Daddy and The Family. The lyrics to all three songs seemed appropriate.
