Celebrating Capella University Alumna Dr. Amina Abdullah-Winstead
Dr. Amina Abdullah-Winstead, PhD is one of many representations of Black Girl Magic and it’s no secret as to why!
Dr. Abdullah-Winstead has a Master’s degree in Management, as well as a PhD in Human Services, which she utilizes through community service.
Throughout her career, she has organized service learning opportunities and community service initiatives. She’s also the founder and President of the PhD Sisters group and the Pi Eta Delta Sorority.
The PhD Sisters group was born from her own personal experience with Capella. “I thought it was nice how Capella would bring people together. They had an opportunity to actually connect, to talk about the process they were going through, as well as gain some insight on what it would be like to potentially present your research.”
Dr. Abdullah-Winstead is a published author as well. Her collection of work focuses on the testimonies and stories of women who have obtained their doctoral degree. The books, Their Journey to the PhD, are another form of support that individuals can seek to help develop strategies to complete their degree.
Congratulations Dr. Abdullah-Winstead! Author, advocate for women’s advancement and PhD in Human Services from Capella University.
