Chance the Rapper Raises $100K for a Great Cause
Chance the Rapper's dedication to his hometown of Chicago is no secret, so in an effort to give back, the MC raised an astounding $100,000 in donations to help supply the homeless with winter coats.
According to Complex, Chance and the Empowerment Plan launched the Warmest Winter Initiative with the hopes of donating 1,000 coats to Chi-town's homeless population. Following its December 2015 launch, the "Sunday Candy" rapper wanted to give them a special coat that is "water resistant" and "self heating" so that they can more easily power through the elements.
Adding even more functionality, the coat can even adjust into a sleeping bag and be used as an over-the-shoulder bag when it's not being worn.
During the Holidays, Chance gave fans an update that the campaign had raised almost $60,000 in just 10 days. Now, he has raised upwards from $102,500 and sponsored 1,025 coats.
