Nick Cannon Defends Bill Cosby On Instagram
Bill Cosby was sentenced to three to 10 years in prison last week after being found guilty of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in April.
During the aftermath, some are questioning the length of the sentencing and even whether the fallen actor is guilty at all. One of the public figures voicing his opinion is Nick Cannon. The actor posted a video he stars in and it calls into question why Cosby was targeted over white men who have arguably committed worse crimes and haven’t yet been punished. Cannon claims racism is the cause.
Unofficially titled “Why Bill?” Cannon repeats the phrase throughout the spoken word video. Toward the end, he defends Cosby.
“Maybe I should just focus on my degree / Even though my academic quest to profess and teach could still be breached with a reach of accusations against me?” he says. “Why Bill couldn’t see, that if he really wanted to lead, it wasn’t about preaching and reprimanding this generation? / But warning us that regardless of our income and occupation the system will still forsake us / Take us, for a joke / Make us go broke / Stay in your place n***a / And when you brag about the black man being hung. Our arrogance is just a different kind of rope.”
Cannon includes the full lyrics in his description to accompany the video. What do you think? Does Nick Cannon have a point? Let us know in the comment section below.
