Stacey Abrams Reveals The Actress She Would Want To Play Her In a Biopic
A movie based on Stacey Abrams’ life hasn’t yet been announced, however the casting for the main role seems to have moved onto social media.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Abrams announced during a SXSW townhall that she would want Ashley Nicole Black (A Black Lady Sketch Show) to play her in a biopic. Via Twitter, After being informed that the former Georgia gubernatorial candidate and voting rights activist revealed she wanted Black to play her, the actress responded in the affirmative.
“Yes. I am available. Clear my calendar,” she tweeted.
Black wrote in a follow-up tweet why she’d be honored to portray Abrams' life and story.
"A democracy warrior, who's also a romance novelist, who's also one of the smartest people I've ever watched work in real life (seriously, watching her do a town hall is like watching Jordan play), who's also secretly very funny... Yes. This is the role I was born to play," she added.
Entertainment Weekly also reports that Abrams named Academy Award-winner Viola Davis as an actress she’d like to be involved in a future biopic.
