Takeoff Murder Suspect Released On $1 Million Bond
Patrick Clark, the man charged with the murder of Takeoff, has reportedly been released from jail on a $1 million bond.
KTRK reports that records show the 33-year-old made bond on Wednesday (January 4).
The move comes after Clark’s lawyers tried to argue his bond down to $300,000, saying the suspect could not come up with the money to get out.
Initially, Clark’s bond was set at $2 million, however, Judge Josh Hill agreed to lower it to $1 million. He also ruled that previous statements made by Clark indicated he could pay a $1 million bail and that there are bail bond companies that would take on that risk.
Prosecutors have previously argued that Clark could be a possible flight risk if he’s not in custody, causing him to have to surrender his passport to the court.
Under his bond conditions, according to KTRK, Clark is not allowed to leave his parents' home in Houston or have any contact with Takeoff’s family. He’s due to appear in court again in March.
Takeoff, 28, a founding member of the hip-hop supergroup Migos, was shot in the head and back outside a Houston bowling alley on November 1 as more than 30 people were leaving a private party at a Houston bowling alley.
Local station KPRC reported that prosecutors have video evidence of Clark pointing and firing a gun in the direction of a group of people. Investigators found his fingerprints on a wine bottle that Clark left at the scene. The police arrested Clark on December 1.
According to Houston police officials, a dispute over a dice game preceded at least two people opening fire around 2:30 a.m. The suburban Atlanta rapper, born Kirsnick Khari Ball, was an innocent bystander. It’s unclear if Clark, a DJ, and Takeoff knew each other.
