That Punch Blake Griffin Threw at a Clippers Equipment Manager Is Going to Cost Him
Was it worth it, man?
On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Clippers announced that they have suspended star power forward Blake Griffin for four games without pay after punching the team's assistant equipment manager during an altercation in Toronto last month.
For Griffin, the suspension just adds insult to injury, considering Griffin broke his hand from connecting with the punch and needs four to six weeks to recover from surgery.
The Clippers said Griffin "is remorseful and has apologized for his actions," as reported by ESPN.
He should be. Punching a team equipment manager and breaking your own hand? That's just plain old stupid.
What's worse is Griffin was slated to return to the court after coming off a partially-torn quadricep when he punched the assistant equipment manager, hurting himself and his team in the process.
With the suspension, Griffin joins the ever-growing list of dumb things athletes have done, ranging from former NFL wide receiver Plaxico Burress shooting himself in the leg in a New York City nightclub to Amare Stoudemire punching and breaking the glass of a fire extinguisher case (hurting the New York Knicks in the playoffs) and Gilbert Arenas bringing guns into an NBA arena.
Damn, Blake...this isn't the kind of list you want to be joining.
Oh, well...it's too late now.
