Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb Selected For Harvard Leadership Program

He is one of 40 mayors joining the leadership and management initiative.

Justin Bibb, the youngest mayor in Cleveland's history, has been chosen for the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative.

According to Cleveland.com, Bibb is one of 40 mayors joining the leadership and management program, which will teach mayors and top City Hall staffers how to improve quality-of-life for their constituents.

“I am pleased to share that our cabinet-level and senior team hiring is nearly complete and that we have been able to attract and retain such outstanding talent to serve our residents,” Bibb said in a statement.  “The four leaders we are announcing today all have experience working right here, in Cleveland, and are hitting the ground running on a wide range of important projects and initiatives.”

Bibb reportedly traveled to New York City earlier this week to attend the first round of classes alongside other mayors from across the United States and abroad.

The program, based on Harvard-developed teaching methods, contains classes that will cover several topics, including new policy development and resident engagement. Participants have also identified top policy areas on which they want to focus, including affordable housing, transportation and infrastructure, poverty reduction, equitable growth and jobs, climate and more.
