What was supposed to be a relaxing moment shared on Instagram by dream pop songstress Lorde unfortunately ended in disaster when it arrived on the internet at the wrong place, wrong time, and with the wrong reference—unbeknownst to her.
On Thursday (April 5), the Melodrama artist posted an innocent enough photo of her vintage design bathtub filling with water, a tranquil view for her followers to indulge in with her before hopping inside. The photo was innocent enough. Unfortunately, a Whitney Houston lyric she used to caption it sparked a firestorm of backlash that she never saw coming from a connection to the legendary music icon’s death she didn’t realize in the moment, either.
