Hurricane Chris Murder Trial Underway As Jurors Listen To 911 Calls
Hurricane Chris’ second-degree murder trial is officially underway in his home state of Louisiana.
KSLA reports that the rapper, born Christopher Jerron Dooley, was in court Wednesday (March 8) for the start of his trial, which stems from a June 2020 incident. Jury selection reportedly began Monday for the proceedings and was completed the following day on Tuesday.
Initially, the trial date was set for January, however it was delayed to February 13, and then again after prosecutors asked for more time to prepare.

Chris was arrested after shooting Danzeria O. Ferris Jr. in June 2020, who the rapper accused of allegedly trying to steal his car outside of a convenience store in Shreveport. After officers arrived on the scene, Ferris Jr. was rushed to a local hospital with gunshot wounds in his chest, hip and stomach. He later died at the hospital with the car in question turning out to be stolen.
Known for his 2009 hit “A Bay Bay,” Hurricane Chris has been out on $500,000 bond since two days after his arrest. He has maintained that he’s innocent.
Chris claims he was acting in self-defense, but investigators determined video footage of the incident doesn’t support that theory.
