Cardi B started her hustle as a cashier at the Amish Market in TriBeCa. In an interview with Fader, Cardi told the magazine that when she was fired from that job, her boss suggested that she should go across the street and become a stripper. She took his advice and did just that.

At the age of 19, Cardi B dropped out of community college and turned to stripping as a main source of income. At the time, she was telling her family that she was a nanny.
