Robin Williams Dead at 63
Robin Williams has died on Monday morning of apparent suicide, a rep for the actor confirms. The Oscar winner was 63 years old.
"Robin Williams passed away this morning," the actor's rep Mara Buxbaum said in a statement. "He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time."
His wife, Susan Schneider, says, "This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken."
Williams was found unconscious and not breathing inside his Tiburon, California home in the wee hours of the morning, Marin County police confirm. "At this time, the Sheriff’s Office Coroner Division suspects the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia, but a comprehensive investigation must be completed before a final determination is made," add investigators.
The comedian and actor is known for lighting up the screen with roles in Mrs. Doubtfire, Good Morning Vietnam, Good Will Hunting and dozens of other films. Williams is survived by Schneider and his three children.
Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.
