Did a Dolphins' Player Really Say Rich Athletes Don’t Marry Black Women Because They’re 'Stubborn, Closed Minded, and Always Want to Argue'?
When Washington's Lynden Trail asked his Facebook followers a question about Black athletes with money marrying white women, he didn't mean for it to turn into a session for bashing Black women.
Yet that's exactly what happened thanks to a cat-fishing follower posing as a Miami Dolphins' player, leaving the Washington linebacker no choice but to set the record straight with a tweet yesterday, essentially showing off and taking pride in his beautiful Black family, while shutting down his haters ASAP.
Trail felt compelled to tweet out a picture of his family after his FB post turned into a hateful debate earlier in the week. Trail's FB question had him asking his followers: "So the topic is why Black athletes with money marry white women? Personally if she treat you good shouldn't matter what color she is, but I want to hear y'all opinion. It's a topic in a group chat I'm in."
That question paved the way for one of his followers posing as a Dolphins' player under the handle "Maserati Rick" to fire a lengthy response, saying that successful Black athletes don't marry Black women because they're "stubborn, close-minded and always want to argue and be the boss."
At the time, many outlets thought that he was a real Dolphins' player.
The full response generated a wave of reactions, outing and blasting the cat-fishing Dolphins' impostor for his views, while circling back to Trail for posing the question in the first place.
The backlash got so severe that people wanted to know where Trail stood personally on the topic and if he actually agrees with "Maserati Rick." That's what prompted Trail, 25, to rep for #BlackExcellence by proudly showing off his Black family, essentially destroying his haters and turning "Maserati Rick" into scrap metal in the process.
Nice way to turn a messy situation clean and earn back the respect from your fans and beyond.
