Megan Thee Stallion Settles Long-Running Legal Battle With 1501 Certified Ent.

The parties have decided to “amicably part ways.”

Megan Thee Stallion and her former record label 1501 Certified Entertainment have settled more than a three-year-long legal dispute over a contract agreement the “Bongos” rapper called “unconscionable.”

On Thursday (Oct. 19), attorneys for 1501 announced that the two parties. Under the agreement, they had “mutually reached a confidential settlement to resolve their legal differences.” Under the deal, Megan and 1501 will “amicably part ways.”

“Both Megan and 1501 are pleased to put this matter behind them and move forward with the next chapter of their respective businesses,” 1501 said in a statement obtained by Billboard.

While details of the settlement have been made public, the label’s president, Carl Crawford, said that he and his company “wish Megan the very best in her life and career.”

The Houston native, whose real name is Megan Pete, had been embroiled in a heated court battle with the music company since 2020 after she initially accused them of stopping her from dropping her album “Suga.” The star also alleged that in 2018, she was tricked into signing a record deal below industry standards.

The announcement comes merely a week after the "Cash S—t" emcee shared her decision to go independent during an Instagram Live session and revealed her plans to finance her upcoming album entirely with her own money.

“I have no label right now. We’re doing everything funded straight out of Megan Thee Stallion’s pockets,” she said. “The budget is coming from me. Motherf—— hot girl productions. We in my pockets, hotties, so let’s do our big one.”
