50 Cent Is Getting Sued for Reportedly Stealing 'Power' Idea
Larry Johnson is an author behind a manuscript titled Tribulation of a Ghetto Kid. In 2005, he shopped it to Nikki Turner, who works for 50 at G-Unit Books. Johnson revealed that the book was published at a different company, but believes Nikki shared his manuscript with 50.
In 2014, when Starz debuted Power, Johnson realized that much of the characters and storyline were similar to his manuscript. For example, Ghost is named the main character (he also uses Ghost as his pen name) and rocks a goatee just like the character Johnson made up.
Other similarities include Ghost’s best friend, Tommy, who has a short temper. The fact that the main character owns the hottest nightclub in NYC (in his manuscript it’s in Atlanta) isn’t a surprise either.
Johnson wants to sue 50 for $200 million. It’s unclear if the lawsuit is in motion yet. But judging from 50’s recent history of money troubles, this isn’t looking good for him.
