'House of Payne': Floyd Gets in the Dating Game
On this episode of House of Payne, we learn that Ella’s friend, Gloria, is looking for a new boo. E Ella invites Gloria to come to her church to meet some men, and Glo, while she is looking, isn’t sure about going the church route because the men at Ella’s place of worship aren’t appealing.
Meanwhile, Floyd tells Curtis he has a crush on a special lady. It quickly becomes obvious that Floyd is into Gloria. However, he never mentions the woman’s name, and Curtis encourages Floyd to be honest with the woman. Floyd is nervous, but later on, he successfully gets the digits. Hold that thought.
Meanwhile, CJ gets ready to sit down and watch the season finale of his favorite show, but then Pookie and Peanut stop by and interrupt his solitude. Not only do they bogart the sandwich he made for himself and spoil the end of the show, but they also want his help. They want to be firefighters, and they want CJ, who is experienced in the field, to mentor them. This is laughable, given who it is, but we know CJ will do it anyway.
Back to Floyd and Curtis. Floy reveals that his potential new paramour is Gloria, and it takes a lot for Curtis not to throw up. Ella walks in on Curtis’ fit and expresses that she loves the new love connection. Floyd then gets the bright idea for them to go on a double date, and Ella volunteers to make dinner.
Back to CJ’s firefighting school. CJ quizzes Pookie and Peanut, and it’s clear that they think real-life firefighting is like TV. CJ is surprisingly patient as he runs through the ins and outs. Let’s fast forward to dinner time with the Paynes. Floyd and Glo are being flirty, while Curtis is being a crab. He’s throwing shade and even calls Ella an animal, but she keeps it classy. At some point, Floyd observes that there aren’t any meat dishes, and that’s because Gloria is a vegetarian. Here’s the tension because Floyd loves meat. Curtis thinks his wish for them to stop dating is about to come true, but he’s wrong. Floyd and Gloria keep it mature and realize that they just need to learn more about each other and learn to live with each others’ differences. And therein lies the most important message.
