Marlon Wayans Opens Up About Supporting His Child Kai Through Their Transition
Marlon Wayans is rolling with life, no matter where it leads him.
The legendary comedian has faced several major life changes in recent years, including the loss of his parents and his child, Kai, coming out as transgender.
During a recent appearance on the “Jennifer Hudson Show,” the “White Chicks” star discussed supporting his child and going through “the five stages of grief to get to the beautiful, magical place called acceptance.”
He added, “All this was happening to me at one time, and then it was like this universal thing—acceptance. Once you accept, you release, you give yourself to God, and everything is all right.”
When asked what he learned during this time, Marlon revealed, to his surprise, "I learned that I'm a lot stronger than I thought I was." He continued, "I learned that my family—my brothers, my sisters—have prepared me to be a rock in our family."
Last year, the “Bel-Air” actor was open about how this journey has affected him, emphasizing that regardless of Kai’s name or gender identity, they are still "the same child they were before—they just got a beard now. Okay! Same baby,” he told Hudson.
Marlon shares two children, sons Kai and Shawn, with his ex Angela Zackery.
