Kanye West, Will.I.Am and More Show Support for Digital Downloading
As most music lovers know from the demise of Napster, record companies abhor file-sharing sites because fans don’t have to pay every single time they want to hear new music.
Prince has shown in the past he is against it as well, but a new crop of celebrities loaned their, well, celebrity and voices to show support for one digital downloading company in particular called Megaupload.
According to Ace Showbiz, a new collaborative video called the “Mega Song” was uploaded but then removed by UMG, which is home to many of the music makers. While a great deal of stars are said to have participated — such as Snoop Dogg, Diddy, Will.I.Am, Kanye West, The Game and Alicia Keys — fans of the artists and file-sharing may not get the opportunity to ever hear the song or see the video.
Spin quotes Ciara as saying, "I love Megaupload because it moves fast, just like I like it," while Will.I.Am supposedly admits, "When I got to send files across the globe, I use Megaupload." While the video can longer be seen on most websites, pictures of Jamie Foxx, Diddy and Kim Kardashian are featured on Megaupload's website here.
As the battle between music labels and digital downloaders continue, at least fans know which side of the argument their favorite stars on.
