Master P Speaks On Nipsey Hussle Support: "Stop It With Fake Love"
Hip hop mogul Master P has a few words for folks regarding the late Nipsey Hussle, telling HipHopDX how frustrated he is with the lack of support the Crenshaw legend received while he was alive.
The No Limit Records co-founder gave Hussle his flowers in the interview, recalling how much work the Victory Lap musician put in for his Grammy-nominated debut album.
“He put the same record that sold millions of copies [that] only sold 50,000 when he was alive and he couldn’t get it,” Master P began.
“He was like, ‘Man, I put my all into this project.’ He was like, ‘Boss, I did it. This is it.’ And then when it didn’t happen, and just watching the people, this guy didn't know that his funeral was at the Staples Center. He didn’t know that he had that type of love. Let’s be honest, he was still in Inglewood and Crenshaw trying to figure it out [...] People would tell him, ‘Well, I don’t think that you got it.’ What happened? I mean, it’s the same album. The same album that people love now. That’s the part that I don’t understand. That’s why we got to celebrate while we were here. Stop it with fake love.”
During an interview with the publication, the Rap Snacks owner said people only want to see others succeed once they are gone.
“I just think in our culture, it just natural that people just self-hate,” he said in the interview.
“They don’t want to see somebody else make it until they are gone. You don’t want to tell somebody they are great while they are alive. That’s the thing that I just couldn’t understand about Nipsey is that he was talented.”
The businessman, like Hussle, continues to uplift his community and makes it his mission to give back as he shared in a recent interview with BET.com how much of a “blessing” it is to give millions back into the culture.
“You measure success by what you are able to give, not what you have,” said P in the interview.
“That's why my life has grown and evolved. I'm more happy helping others than all the other things that I do. So, I guess that's where it comes from. It comes from watching my people hurt and seeing that I can be a blessing to others. We’ve been doing this for 25 years and it’s a blessing to be able to give millions back to the community and the culture.”
Although we may not have Hussle with us, his estate continues to make sure his legacy continues as BET.com reported a second location for his Marathon store. An official date has yet to be revealed.
Nipsey’s brother, Blacc Sam, shared how it was his brother’s dream of his and wants to fulfill his plans.
“This second location is a dream that Nipsey always had, and it’s important that his kids are able to see his plans fulfilled.”
