Channing Tatum Details Inception of 'Lip Sync Battle' Performance with Beyoncé
Channing Tatum headlined an intense “Lip Sync Battle” recently that caught the Internet by storm. The actor-turned Beyoncé drag performer ripped a performance of Bey’s “Run The World (Girls)” on the Spike show and was joined by the Queen on-stage during it.
On Thursday (January 28) Tatum appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and detailed his performance alongside Beyoncé and revealed that it was the first time the two had met.
“That is the first time I ever met her, right there,” he told Ellen. “I won’t even tell you what I had to do to essentially get her assistance.” He then told the audience that Bey even wanted to hang out with him after they both appeared on the show and texted him with an offer. “Hey, I would love to meet you [and Jenna Dewan-Tatum] and hang out when you’re not looking like me… it’s so terrifying,” he recalled the text reading.
Tatum also explained how unbelievable it was that Beyoncé came out and how terrified he was performing one of her songs with her.
“She’s like Keyser Söze,” he joked in reference to Kevin Spacey’s character in The Usual Suspects. “You never see her until all of sudden you’re just like, ‘It happened! Wait… that was her, right?’ And then you always know she’s somewhere in the world that can reach out and touch you.”
We’re hoping for a Tatum/Beyoncé (and their mates) double date sometime soon. In the meantime, watch Channing Tatum’s interview with Ellen DeGeneres below.
