Kid Rock Blasts Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake Tour

Rap-metal artist calls "Legends of the Summer" ticket prices "highway robbery."

Don't count on Kid Rock to show support for Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake's Legends of the Summer Tour. He thinks the tickets are just too high.

With the steepest prices running above $225, the Detroit native slammed his musical peers for expecting fans to dig so deep in their pockets. "It's garbage," he said during an appearance on CNN's Piers Morgan Tonight. "It's highway robbery, I don't care who you are. I would consider both of them friends in the business but I don't agree with it."

Rock was on the show to promote his own tour run, which launches in late June. Unlike other big shows this summer, he will only charge $20 per ticket. "I've always tried to keep prices at what I think are fair. I've always said I'm proud that I can walk around with my head held high knowing that I haven't taken an [honest] dollar from a working man."

The 42-year-old took a pay cut and worked out deals with sponsors in order to drop the ticket fee. He's even gone an extra step by offering concert-goers free sandwiches in certain markets, $4 beers and $20 food specials. "I'm just trying to go above and beyond. I'm crossing my fingers that it works."

Hov and Timberlake probably won't be following in Rock's footsteps, but that doesn't mean they don't give back. In Jay's case, he recently launched a contest through the website Omaze.com and The Shawn Carter Foundation. By donating as little as $5 to his non-profit, fans can enter for a chance to win an all-expense paid trip to New York City where they will go behind the scenes at Roc Nation, get creative with the editor of his Life + Times website and dine at the 40/40 club.
