Kanye West on His Ultimate Sacrifice: 'My Mom'
Kanye West's admiration for his mother is known by everyone. Since her death, the rapper has not spoken much about how it has affected him, until now. In an interview with Q magazine, 'Ye revealed that he blames himself for her passing.
According to US Magazine, when asked what in his life he has sacrificed for his incredible success, the 38-year-old said, "My mom." He continued, "If I had never moved to L.A., she'd be alive... I don't want to go far into it because it will bring me to tears."
Donda West, an English professor, passed away in 2007 at the age of 58 after suffering complications from elective surgery. Following a procedure in California, her health began to deteriorate. She died shortly after being admitted to a hospital in Marina del Rey.
The "Only One" performer has since started a family of his own with reality star Kim Kardashian. Later on in the interview, West spoke highly of their firstborn, North, saying that she is now his biggest priority. "While [Nori's] here in Europe I have to have six hours a day with her because otherwise I'll just work and she'll get scheduled around meetings," he said. "Instead, the meetings get scheduled around her."
We're sure his mother would be proud of the father he's become.
The August 2015 issue of Q magazine hits newsstands on June 30.
