The North Face And Gucci Collaborate In 2021 To Bridge The Gap Between Streetwear And Luxury
Italian fashion house Gucci and The North Face team up for a highly coveted collection, further bridging the gap between luxury and streetwear.
On Monday, the Italy-based luxury house announced a new run of what they tout as "ephemeral stores" in five locations across the U.S. and Canada, all inspired by the pins seen on digital maps. The stores will debut today, January 6, and feature pieces showcased in an immersive environment straight from the mind of creative director Alessandro Michele.
The collection consists of hiking boots, nylon puffer coats, dresses, jumpsuits, and accessories. To celebrate the collaboration, two temporary stores will debut in Downtown Los Angeles and Brooklyn featuring the collection. In contrast, areas within Gucci boutiques in San Francisco, Chicago, and Holt Renfrew Toronto will feature dedicated installations devoted to this drop.
As the most anticipated fashion collaboration of the year, Gucci also debuted a behind the scenes video showcasing how the luxury fashion house and sportswear brand came together to create a vast assortment of diverse styles and accessories. "The goal is to expose people from the other set to a new idea and a new … way of thinking," explains David Whetstone, design manager for global collaborations, archives, and special projects at The North Face, in the clip.
The collection is available now in shops and will be available online later this month.
