LeVar Burton Is Set To Host A Game Show And It Isn’t ‘Jeopardy’
LeVar Burton is set to host a new game show!
The 64-year-old actor is teaming up with Entertainment One to create a Trivial Pursuit-based program.
According to the New York Post, Hasbro purchased Entertainment One for $3.8 billion in 2019. Burton is also tapped to executive produce the new trivia show.
Tara Long and Geno McDermott from eOne and LeVar Burton Entertainment’s Sangita Patel will serve a co-producer.
“‘Trivial Pursuit’ is one of the best-known brands in the gaming universe,” Burton said, according to the Post. “I am thrilled to have partnered with Hasbro and eOne to bring this beloved game to market as a premium show for television.”
“LeVar Burton has been an iconic member of American pop culture for decades from ‘Roots’ to ‘Reading Rainbow’ to ‘Star Trek’ and beyond,” Long said in a statement. “His love for intellectual curiosity paired with his ability to connect with audiences worldwide make him the perfect partner to bring Hasbro’s beloved trivia game to households in a new and exciting way.”
While Trivial Pursuit is an entirely new game show in comparison to Jeopardy, the game is exceptionally popular, according to Nerdist. Currently, Trivial Pursuit is available in more than 26 countries and 17 languages, with over 100 million copies sold worldwide.
