Wedding Wars and Historical Heroes: Drama and Redemption on 'House of Payne'

On this week's episode, Uncle Curtis clashes with the soon-to-be-weds over BBQ feuds, while the twins face the challenge of portraying Black history icons.

On this episode of "House of Payne," there’s tension between Uncle Curtis, Laura, and Calvin. Uncle Curtis feels a way about Laura and Calvin’s wedding planning. He doesn’t like the food they chose and thinks he can do a better job as a caterer, especially since he already works in the food industry and is an expert in BBQ, which is not what Calvin and Laura want for their big day. This is Curtis, so you know he’s not tactful about it, and Ella calls him out for being rude. But also, Curtis has never catered a wedding before anyway, so Calvin and Lauran have doubts about his ability.

In other news, the twins are back, and they both got major parts in their school’s Black History play. Jayden will play Frederick Douglass, while Hayden will play Sojourner Truth. Both end up nervous about the responsibility of playing such iconic roles. Still, CJ teaches them the importance of practicing until they get things right, and ultimately it works out for them.

Back to Curtis. The episode winds down with him apologizing to Laura and Calvin for his previous behavior, and everyone is shocked because apologies ain’t what Curtis does. However, Laura and Calvin apologized for doubting him and proposed a compromise. They asked Curtis if he’d cater their meet and greet, where both families would meet. That isn’t the wedding, but it’s still a big deal, and Curtis is thrilled, and peace is restored.
