J. Cole’s Epic Forest Hills Drive Homecoming Show Is About to Be an HBO Special
J. Cole’s headed to HBO for a special presentation of his latest album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, and it sounds incredible.
The network announced Thursday (December 3) that the J. Cole Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming special will air Saturday, January 9 at 10 p.m. EST and feature guest cameo appearances from Drake and Jay Z, among others. Perhaps more important, it’s slated to showcase live renditions of the 13 songs from his third studio LP.
The event will be plugged as a homecoming affair and will be a mix of "part concert film, part backstage pass." It also aims at telling "his compelling life story through Cole’s own words and music, and through the observations of those who know him best," according to a press release about the special.
2014 Forest Hills Drive became the first rap record in 25 years to go platinum without featured guests and sold 350,000 copies in its first week. It was released on December 9 of last year.
