New ‘jeen-yuhs’ Footage Shows Kanye West ’Spazzing’ During Video Shoot of ‘Slow Jamz’
Kanye West’s three-part Netflix event jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy gives fans a never-before-seen look at the life of the Chicago-born superstar as he made his transition from a young music producer to hip hop pioneer over the course of two decades.
Ahead of the third and final act, TIME Magazine released an exclusive clip off the set of the 2004 video shoot for actor Jamie Foxx’s smash hit “Slow Jamz,” which featured West and Twista. The publication described the shoot as being “plagued by creative differences, logistical problems, and financial limitations,” as the “Jesus Walks” emcee was spotted in the video trying to explain his creative vision to those on set.

“The whole point is, Jamie Foxx comes up and puts the record on this record player that I begged for yesterday. I’m gonna keep repeating myself over and over and over again. Y’all are forcing me to be the asshole,” West is heard saying. “I’m spazzing.”
The record player scene the 44-year-old was describing in the video ultimately never made it into the video’s final cut.
The unreleased footage comes on the heels of an archive of footage from West and Foxx’s “Slow Jamz” studio session. Production of the single took place at Foxx’s home studio because Roc-A-Fella wouldn’t give the rapper a budget for recording.
The last act of jeen-yuhs premiers Wednesday, March 2, on Netflix.
