Conservatives Gone Wild: Ben Carson Compares U.S. to Nazi Germany
Renowned neurosurgeon Ben Carson has once again thrown political correctness to the wind by comparing the U.S. to Nazi Germany. Carson was asked to explain an earlier comment in which he said Americans are living in a "Gestapo age."
"I mean very much like Nazi Germany â and I know you're not supposed to say Nazi Germany, but I don't care about political correctness â you know, you had a government using its tools to intimidate the population," the Tea Party favorite said in an interview with Breitbart News earlier this week. "We now live in a society where people are afraid to say what they actually believe."
He's not the only conservative to employ a Nazi reference this week. But Marcia Radosevich, who sits on Wellington, Florida's Planning, Zoning & Adjustment Board, added a twist: a mock Hitler salute.
Responding to another local official's proposal about giving village staff more independence in handling project applications, Radosevich raised her left arm and, imitating a German accent, said, "Heil Hitler."
Jim Brown, who is running for an Arizona congressional seat, compared entitlement programs to slavery. In the good old days, he wrote in a Facebook post, slave-owners "basically took pretty good care of their slaves and livestock and this kept business rolling along."
He believes entitlements are a new-school form of enslaving people "by robbing opportunity while taking care of basic needs." They are a way for politicians to "gain power," Brown asserts.
