K'NAAN: Mitt Romney Stole My Song

Mitt Romney campaign hijacks K'NAAN’s “Waving Flag.”

Canadian hip hop star K'NAAN found himself an unwitting participant in the 2012 presidential race this week, and not on the side that he would have preferred.
Republican candidate Mitt Romney employed the African rapper-singer's international smash "Waving Flag" during his victory speech after Tuesday's Florida primary, but K'NAAN says the use of his song was both unauthorized and unwelcome.
"I have not been asked for permission by Mitt Romney's campaign for the use of my song,” K’NAAN said in a statement. “If I had been asked, I would certainly not have granted it.”
Though the international star is no fan of Romney's, he said he'd be more than willing to let his music be used in support of sitting U.S. President Barack Obama.
“I would happily grant the Obama campaign use of my song without prejudice," he said.
