Watch: Obama Canceled Traditional Photo-Op With President-Elect Donald Trump

Some possible reasons why.

President-elect Donald Trump touched down in Washington, D.C., on Thursday for a visit to the White House after the traditional invitation from President Obama. However, after the meeting, which has occurred between current president and president-elect since nearly the beginning of the country, no photo between the two first families occurred.

Traditionally, after the president meets with the president-elect, a photo is taken of the first couples. However, the Obamas canceled the photo between themselves and Trump and Melania, according to the Wall Street Journal.

No reason for the cancellation accompanied the announcement, but one can only assume it has to do with the glaring differences between the two families.

After the 2008 election, Obama paid a visit to the White House, wherein President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama stood alongside President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush.

It was not that long ago that Donald Trump created the birther movement to delegitimize President Obama and everything he represented. Additionally, both Barack and Michelle Obama have delivered poignant and emotional speeches begging the American people to keep Trump out of office.

However, even though things didn’t go according to plan, the Obama administration has repeatedly pledged to do everything in their power to not only make this a smooth transition for the country, but also to make sure that the president-elect is prepared to defend the United States on day one.

After the meeting between the two, both Trump and Obama spoke about unifying to do what is right for the country.

“This was a meeting that was going to last for maybe 10 or 15 minutes and we were just going to get to know each other — we had never met each other. I have great respect,” Trump said, hopefully referring to Obama. “The meeting lasted for almost an hour and a half. And it could have, as far as I'm concerned, it could have gone on for a lot longer. We really — we discussed a lot of different situations, some wonderful and some difficulties. I very much look forward to dealing with the president in the future, including counsel. He explained some of the difficulties, some of the high-flying assets and some of the really great things that have been achieved.”
