A$AP Rocky's Trial Delayed Until January Due to Performance in Thailand
A judge has postponed A$AP Rocky's trial related to accusations from his former friend, A$AP Relli, who alleges that Rocky fired a semi-automatic handgun at him during a 2021 incident.
As reported by PEOPLE, during a hearing on Tuesday (Oct. 22) in Los Angeles, the trial was rescheduled from its original date in November to Jan. 21. The “Fashion Killa” hitmaker’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, explained that the delay was necessary due to a scheduling conflict with Rocky's performance at Rolling Loud Thailand 2024.
"Things were moved in part because Rocky has a benefit concert in Bangkok in late November and in part because we're still dealing with some issues on discovery," Tacopina said. "We all agree with Thanksgiving... and Christmas... I think everyone decided it's best to do this in January. It's a firm date." He continued, "If he said no, Rocky would be here on Nov. 12, obviously. I'd be here. But he was very accommodating."
In January, Rocky pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. Last November, a judge ruled that sufficient evidence existed for the case to proceed to trial.
Legal documents obtained by PEOPLE reveal that Relli, a former member of A$AP Mob, filed a civil lawsuit against Rocky on Aug. 10, 2022, citing assault, battery, and emotional distress. Rocky has consistently denied the allegations. Relli asserted that he was hit by bullet fragments during the incident and sought medical care at a New York City hospital. The two men have known each other since childhood, having attended high school together in New York.
