Rihanna received the NAACP President’s Award for special achievement and distinguished public service at the 51st NAACP Image Awards, and during her speech, she called for racial, religious and cultural unity.

“If there’s anything that I’ve learned, it’s that we can only fix this world together,” Rihanna said. “We can’t do it divided.”

She continued: “We’ve been denied opportunities since the beginning of time, and still we prevail. Imagine what we can do if we do it together.”

Also during her speech, Rihanna touched on how saving and improving lives is one of her biggest goals and much more has to be done by everyone.

“My part is a very small part of the work being done in this world and the work that is yet to be done,” she said.
