Janet Jackson Has Officially Confirmed Her Black Diamond Tour For 2020

The R&B-pop icon also shared that she is releasing an album of the same name later this year.

Music fans all around the world woke up to some exciting news to start the week off on Monday (Feb. 10)

  • R&B-pop icon Janet Jackson surprised fans with the announcement she will be going on a world tour in 2020. Live Nation unveiled the news on Twitter late in the morning. Jackson later confirmed the news herself on the social platform where she also revealed that she will be releasing an studio album of the same name later this year.

    “I’ve heard all your wishes and now from my lips to your ears. I’m working on my new album and going on a brand new World Tour this summer! Both titled Black Diamond,” Jackson enthusiastically wrote to her fans on Instagram.

  • The first performance will kick off in Miami on June 24th, according to Rolling Stone, with scheduled stops all across North America, including a stop in Vancouver. Additional dates are slated to be announced for Europe and other countries, according to Jackson’s IG post. In addition to new music from her forthcoming 12th studio album, the Black Diamond tour will also feature a special performance of her 1989 classic, “Rhythm Nation.”

    Ahead of her tour, Miss Jackson shared some of the inspiration behind her album and tour.

    “Black Diamonds are the toughest of all the diamonds, the hardest to cut. I see that as the hardest to hurt or destroy,” the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer explained. “There is a lot that I have endured. I see myself as a Black Diamond in its purest form. I’m a rock, I have ruff edges but I keep moving forward. I want to show you my strength as well as give you strength. I love u guys so much and I’m #SoExcited to share this new era with you.”

  • Fans are already requesting time off and clearing their calendars to make time for the R&B-pop royalty. The announcement comes on the heels of Miss Jackson’s successful Metamorphosis residency in Las Vegas. Black Diamond also marks her first release in nearly five years since she dropped Unbreakable in 2015. Understandably, fans are losing their minds.

    “DAMITA ABOUT TO SCALP US ALLL!!!!!” one fan excitedly gushed on Twitter. 

    “Okay....okay....we ready!!!!” another tweeted.
