ASAP Rocky Brawls with Crowd at SXSW
Crowd participation is a welcomed sight at all rap concerts, but too much involvement by fans can lead to trouble. The thin line between thrilled concertgoers and overzealous fans was crossed early Sunday morning during an ASAP Rocky performance at South by Southwest.
According to Spinner.com, Rocky and his crew were involved in nasty brawl with a crowd at the Vice Kills Texas party. After a member of the Harlem crew jumped into the mass of concertgoers to perform a stage dive, someone in the audience grabbed his do-rag. A mini scuffle ensued as the crew tried to get it back.
Rocky tried to defuse the situation to no avail. A beer can was tossed on stage as the “Peso” rapper attempted to calm nerves. After Rocky calmly warned fans against throwing more objects another beer can was thrown and the brawl broke out.
The entire fistfight was caught on video. The rap crew mixed it up with several members of the audience who did not back down. Club security quickly got in the mix to separate the two sides. When police arrived, the show was shut down, but no arrests were made.
This is not the first time the ASAP crew has been involved in violence at a show. Last year, they allegedly assaulted a sound guy at a FADER magazine show in New York.
