Ice Cube Debuts Straight Outta Compton Trailer
Ice Cube debuted the trailer for the N.W.A. biopic, Straight Outta Compton, during a show in Australia recently. The rap vet abruptly cut the music to treat the crowd to a “a little piece of” the highly anticipated film.
Set to N.W.A.’s “Straight Outta of Compton” track, the clip shows the rise and demise of the “World’s Most Dangerous Group.” Going beyond the stories of the five members (Cube, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, DJ Yella, and MC Ren), the trailer also showcases the climate in Los Angeles during the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, including clashes with police, and the riots following the verdict in the Rodney King beating case.
The film is directed by F. Gary Gray and features Oscar winner Paul Giamatti as N.W.A.'s former manager Jerry Heller, as well as Cube’s son, O'Shea Jackson Jr., who plays him in the film.
Straight Outta Compton hits theaters next summer.
