For a rookie chef, it can be a bit overwhelming when trying to create the perfect holiday menu that will have your guests begging for a second plate.

Celebrity chef and well-known soul food expert Carla Hall has a quick fix for first-time holiday planners. Think soup!

“Soup is worthy of a spot on your table," the Soul Food author tells BET readers. "It is great to share with your loved ones during special celebrations, especially during the holiday season.”

Soup is also a great go-to for rookie chefs who want to make a quick and simple holiday meal that will leave everyone around the table feeling warm and cozy.

According to Hall, she explored the deliciousness of Progresso’s soups and paired them with easy sides and garnishes to help anyone add excitement to the season in simple and delicious ways. “I am so proud to partner with Progresso because they are so passionate about making high-quality meals for you to love," she shared before telling us about her list of delicious (and easy) soup pairings.

When we looked over the list, we knew right away that it was the ideal selection for beginner cooks who need simple guidance for a small gathering of friends and family.

When we asked Hall what she is most thankful for this year, she revealed that she is grateful for people.

“I genuinely love people, I think that's my superpower,” she exclaims with enthusiasm. “I am so grateful for all of the connections I have made through food this year. My cooking continues to provide opportunities for me to use food to bring people together. I can't wait for what's next!”
