Michelle Obama’s When We All Vote Teams Up With New Georgia Project To Host Drive In Concert
Michelle Obama’s When We All Vote initiative has announced the Celebrate Georgia! drive-in concert experience, set to occur days before the critical state senate runoff election. Teaming up with The New Georgia Project, Live Nation Urban, ONE Musicfest, BET and more, the Jan. 3, 2021 concert will help to gain momentum for the Jan. 5, 2021 election.
According to an official press release, Celebrate Georgia! is set to take place at the Cellairis Amphitheatre at Lakewood in Atlanta, GA. And will feature performances from Monica, Rick Ross, DJ Drama, Jack Harlow, and Pastor Troy with Kenny Burns and Su Solo as the hots for the evening.
Special segments will include appearances by When We All Vote Co-Chairs Michelle Obama, Janelle Monáe, Tracee Ellis Ross, Kerry Washington and Chris Paul. As well as Jidenna, Darren Criss, Sophia Bush, Tommy Dorfman, who are ambassadors of the initiative. The drive-in concert is meant to urge voters who have not yet voted to head to the polls on Election day and “remind voters of their power, inspire voters to make their voices heard again, encourage volunteers and shine a light on the work happening on the ground in the Peach State,” the press release states.
Responsible for the voter registrations of more than 18,000 Georgia residents during the General election between President-elect Joe Biden and President Donald Trump, When We All Vote has tapped several local partners to host more than 50 early voting activations starting today, Monday (Dec. 21) through Election Day Tuesday (Jan. 5). The initiative’s volunteers have established a commitment to make sure that both young people and people of color have their voices heard.
