Lil Wayne Given The Key To Lafayette, Louisiana
The biggest rappers and producers these days are getting keys to their cities but few are getting them from places other than their hometown.
Lil Wayne, a New Orleans native, was recently awarded a key to the northern Louisiana city of Lafayette prior to taking the stage during his Tidal exclusive event at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
“We appreciate what you and TIDAL have done on behalf of the philanthropic efforts and we’re so proud of our Ragin’ Cajuns, Alpha Phi Alpha, for what they did and we want to present to you a very special key to the city that we made specifically for you,” Lafayette Mayor Joel Robideaux said in presenting the key, which Wayne subsequently put around his neck.
Afterward, Weezy said he “made it” and was cheesing the entire time. He then took the mic and the stage for Tidal’s Social Wave for Change initiative, which rewards college students for their service to the community.
