His nickname was "Mi Vida Loca," Spanish for My Crazy Life, something he definitely lived. Now, with the help of 50 Cent, people will learn about the colorful life of late boxer Johnny Tapia.

'Fif co-executive produced TAPIA, an upcoming documentary for HBO, with fellow fight promoter Lou DiBella. The HBO documentary, which is scheduled to air on December 16, will take viewers on a wild ride through the former five-time world champion's life, including his boxing career and personal demons.

“Johnny’s is a story that needed to be told,” 50 said in an HBO press release. “Everyone can relate to some aspect of it, which makes it that much more powerful. Personally, his journey is one that has touched me greatly.”

DiBella agrees, adding: “This is not a boxing film, but a film about tragedy, triumph, demons and redemption. Johnny gives us an honest assessment of his strengths and frailties; he reminds us of the power and resiliency of the human spirit.”

Tapia's boxing career began in the late 1980s, before having disruptions through the years due to personal battles with substance abuse and other tragedies. He captured titles in the Super Flyweight, Bantamweight and Featherweight divisions before dying in May 2012 due to heart failure at the age of 45.

50 Cent's involvement in this documentary only further ingrains the rapper and mogul into the boxing world. A former amateur boxer himself, 'Fif launched his own boxing promotions company, SMS Promotions, two years ago.

In related news, unified light-heavyweight champion and boxing great Bernard Hopkins recently told BET.com that he'd like 'Fif to portray him in his future biopic.
