People Are Sharing Emotional Screenshots Of Texts Terrified Students Sent Their Families During The Florida School Shooting Attack
While a shooter with a loaded AR-15 roamed the halls and opened fired at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, terrified students sent devastating text messages, photos, and videos to their loved ones.
Several screenshots of the conversations were taken and shared to reporters. In many of the messages, the students calmly tell their family how much they love them and remain calm.
In one message, a student says "If I don't make it, I love you"
"If I don't make It I love you and I appreciated everything you did for me," one student wrote to a parent.
"Don't talk that way," the parent replied. "The cops are all over."
According to Miami Herald reporter Chabeli Herrera, the student reportedly hid inside the bathroom for two hours and before they were rescued.
In another text, a 14-year-old son made sure his family stayed away from the danger
"All ok? Ben said they heard a couple of gunshots coming from Stoneman douglas," the parent wrote.
"Yeah there was a couple I heard too," the son replied.
"Ok. Is it all over? Mom wants to come get you now. Is that even possible?" the parent asked.
"It's not over we are on lockdown. Not it's not possible. You could get hurt," the son said.
"Ok. Stay safe buddy. Love you," the parent continued. "Be safe man. Stay hidden or play dead if there is an active shooter."
In one message, a student texted his 10-year-old sister
When the sister said their dad was crying, the student replied:
"Don't be scared. Tell him everything is okay for now."
