Rick Ross is set to release his highly anticipated fourth album, God Forgives, I Don’t, later this year, and while the project is still in the recording stages, at least one high profile reviewer has already turned in a glowing verdict.
Sitting with Ross in the VIP of Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV release party, Drake had the highest of praise for God Forgives, I Don't, to which he'd been given an early listen.
"That God Forgives, I Don't; the only way I can describe it is like Doggystyle or Ready to Die or Clipse Lord Willin' or any of the albums that I collected and held on to as a kid — whether it was cassette or CD," reported Drizzy to MTV News.
DJ Khaled, who was also in attendance, had similar praise for Ross' new record.
"God Forgives, I Don't is a classic-in-the-making. Let me tell you something right now: This album is so crazy from the beginning of what I've been in the studio hearing already," Khaled said. "I can't give you too much because I'm going to let him do that, because that's his project, but I could tell you right now it's classic and he is talking that talk."
The Bawse and Drake have emerged as fast friends and allies recently, collaborating on the early God Forgives leak, "Made Men," as well as the Khaled anthem "I'm on One." In an interview Wednesday, Drake even teased a possible Watch the Throne-style collaborative full length project between the two artists.
Ross said he had been in the studio with Drake until the early hours of the morning, the two of them trading listens of one another's still-gestating albums. The Teflon Don returned Drizzy's favorable review.
"If you're a true Drake fan — if you love his first album, this one right here, this s**t is uncut," he said.
God Forgives, I Don't doesn't yet have a release date. Take Care is in stores October 24.
