Here's The Truth About Blac Chyna's Skin Care Line
When it comes to building a beauty empire, Blac Chyna most definitely has her eye on the prize, even in the midst of a major controversy.
Beyond between being a mommy to two, Chy also runs Lashed Cosmetics and Lashed Bar—and is rumored to be working on a line of strollers according to TMZ.
Late last year, the reality TV starlet teamed up with Australian beauty brand Body Blendz to create an exclusive capsule collection of four skin care products featuring their star ingredient charcoal. See a BTS snippet below:
“I wanted to create products that used my favorite ingredients — the ones that really make a difference," Chyna’s statement reads on the website. "I can’t take chances on my skin, especially on my face, so I need products that do what they say they’re going to do."
Of course, we put had to put her latest endeavor to the test to see if it actually delivered. Keep scrolling to see if this is something to cop or drop.
For the record, I love masks, especially a disposable one that can be tossed after one use. Chy’s Crystal Collagen Facial Mask promises to be a must-have for “seriously smooth, glowing skin” in a single treatment.
Here’s the deal: this mask did not fit my face in any way shape or form. I literally had to lay down to make sure my mask didn’t slide off onto my bathroom floor. Yikes!
Chyna looked incredibly chic rocking hers, yet I did not. In fact, I looked pretty scary TBH. On the plus side, the hydrogel formulate contains nourishing ingredients like collagen, charcoal powder, hyaluronic acid and grape seed extract that visibly left me looking refreshed in a little under 20 minutes. Definitely something I'd keep in rotation after a late night out.
Next up, a set of under-eye masks designed to “reduce the appearance of fine lines, and restore tone and texture.” It’s the same consistency/formulation of the mask, but equally as slippery. Again, plan on lying down if you want to use this. Bonus, throw these in the fridge for an added cooling sensation to de-puff tired eyes.
When I first saw this little sponge, I was like "huh?" After a quick deep dive on Google (yes, beauty editors do this too!) I discovered that it was a gentle cleansing exfoliator made from the konjac root, a porous root vegetable that grows in Asia. Go figure! They also soak up a ton of water—and shrink when dry—so they are ideal for travel and/or your gym bag.
Chyna’s version is infused with bamboo charcoal, which is known for banishing acne, exfoliating, and excess oil. This was by far my favorite product in the line, I used it on my neck, chest and back to target break-outs and within a week saw results. Want more info? Last but not least, Chy’s collection also includes a Black Jelly Ball Cleanser that feels like, no lie, an egg made of Jell-O. It’s hard not to giggle or amuse yourself while using this. But the results are nothing to laugh about, the weird texture/shape is great for getting into hard to reach crevices, plus helps banish impurities and toxins on the surface of the skin. A total win-win in our book.
Consensus? It's a pretty damn good initial launch for the women who want quality but don't want to spend department store prices. Everything will also be available as part of the Glow All The Way Kit for $59.95—and for skin like Chyna's I think that's a small price to pay!
