Marshawn Lynch Comforts A Woman Whose Brother Recently Died
Marshawn Lynch is still waiting on the NFL to recognize him as an MVP, but for a family in Oakland, he's already got the title. The football player proved once again why he's one of the most empathetic players in the league.
Instagram user queenrenny_, whose real name is Sharon, shared a story about recently losing her brother Shawn Edward Washington II to pneumonia. After completing his funeral arrangements, her family went out to eat at the Oakland Raiders running back’s restaurant Rob Ben’s in The Bay.
After they all sat down at their table, Lynch appeared.
“15 mins into being at our table Marshawn walked in. I had met him before so I said hi and then a few mins later I stood up and he made eye contact with me,” Sharon wrote. “I called him over and being his silly self he ran around the whole room pretending to get away from me. Once we talked I let him know Shawn passed and that he and my mom are huge fans of his. The video shows what happen next. He then covered our entire meal.”
Looks like Marshawn offered comfort to a fan's family when they needed it most. Check out Sharon's post, below:
The video shows Lynch hugging the young woman for a very long time and consoling her. “So to @beastmode I love you, and my family will forever speak of you with the highest regards,” she added. “Keep being you, it was the exact reason my brother Shawn looked up to you! And next time I see you, you better remember me! Lmao.”
A GoFundMe has been set up to establish a trust for Shawn Edward Washington II's daughter. According to Madison Kelleher, a friend and former colleague, says he was a photographer and artist who worked with at-risk youth in the Bay Area for over 15 years at Caritas Creek/CYO Summer Camp.
“He touched the lives of thousands of children, shining light on those hard to reach teens the hardest,” Kelleher told BET. “His spirit and positivity and genuineness is something that cannot be described but every person he came into contact with will attest to being a better person because of it. He was the big brother everyone dreamed of, the best friend of coming of age movies, and a true artist with music and photography.”
Rest in peace to a great man. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
