Gayle King Praised For Remaining Calm, Cool And Unbothered When R. Kelly Angrily Erupted During CBS Interview

Many think the journalist should deliver a "master class" on how to maintain professionalism when a subject acts out.

In his first sit-down interview since being charged with sexual abuse last month, R. Kelly lost his cool multiple times as CBS This Morning's Gayle King fired off a line of questions. While R. Kelly's unhinged behavior was not lost on anyone, many people also took a moment to credit King for her calm demeanor in the face of an erratic man.

In the explosive interview, which lasted over 80 minutes, the accused singer fired back at the allegations by angrily placing blame on everyone else for trying to "ruin" him.

On Feb. 24, Kelly turned himself in to Chicago police after he was indicted on charges of sexual abuse. The indictment came after Lifetime's docu-series Surviving R. Kelly, which aired interviews from multiple women who claimed the singer sexually abused the women while they were under the age of 18.

Throughout the interview with King, Kelly blamed the girl's parents and vehemently denied all allegations.

  • At one point, Kelly became so emotional, he jumped from his seat and began beating on his chest

"Use your common sense," he yelled while staring directly at the camera. "This is not me. I'm fighting for my f—ing life."

  • The interview quickly went viral, and Gayle King was applauded for remaining composed during the outburst

  • Many people say King could deliver her own "master class" on professionalism
