Obama Becomes First President to Cover an LGBT Publication

Add this latest feat of firsts for presidents of the United States accomplished by our soon exiting commander in chief, President Obama. OUT Magazine has named Obama Ally of the Year in its latest Out 100 issue.
The cover story discussed Obama's work to push for legislation in support of the LGBT community and their human rights. He spoke on the Supreme Court's landmark decision on Obergefell v. Hodges this past June to guarantee same-sex couples the right to marry.
"So I wasn’t surprised by the Supreme Court’s decision, but, like millions of Americans, I was proud and happy that it came down the way it did — and I was honored to stand in the Rose Garden and reiterate for every American that we are strongest, that we are most free, when all of us are treated equally," said Obama. "I was proud to say that love is love."
